The Blank Page and How to Face It!
Art Challenge: Writing
Journal Prompt: Words with Friends
Words with friends. This one I took very literally. I love words. I love friends. Simple choices.
I started in the upper left hand corner and I wrote all the way across the two page spread. Free flowing thoughts about a very special day with very special friends that will stay etched in my memory forever. Just write.
Then I watered down Dina Wakley acrylic paints so they were closer to watercolor consistency and painted in a very free way - big bold swipes of color. Determined not to get mired down in the nonsense of last week's struggle. Focusing on the feeling of that special day and not on the "art".
I painted in the 4 of us in silhouette just as we appeared in the photo of this day. I assigned a "word" to each "friend" that speaks to their essence.
I tore strips of book paper to simulate the lumpy sand of the beach we were sitting on. I added a bit of doodling here and there for emphasis and detail.
Friends sitting at the edge of the ocean in a tropical location painting watercolors with our brushes dipped in seawater as it covers our toes. A forever memory.
Maybe it is time to create another...
I chose to forgo the planner strip this week. I am not sure I want to continue with the planner section.
